Jon 6/08/2002 06:45 am EST	RE: watcher in the woods IP: Logged Message: "Watcher in the Woods" was a Disney film that was a Bette Davis vehicle which was eventually disowned by Disney (along with "Something Wicked This Way Comes," "Midnight Madness," "The Black Hole," etc). During a slump in the late-70s, early-80s, they were making movies that were aimed more at adults and teenagers -- and the original trailers (commercials) for "Watcher" stated it wasn't for small children. However, when it came out on video, it was released just like any other Disney flick -- and it scared the hell out of many of us young kids that saw it, though it's pretty tame by today's standards. The film was released in 1980, then pulled right after the premiere because the ending was laughed at. Subsequently there were two more releases, the final, which ended up on video, features "the watcher" talking through Kyle. The other endings were thought to have been destroyed, but they were recently discovered and put out as extras on the DVD release from Anchor Bay. I would highly recommend the film to any fan of Kyle's.
